Target $10 off $40 online purchase with store pickup

Through August 2, you can get $10 off your $40 online purchase when you select 'store pickup' at checkout. It's only valid on certain items. It will say under the item which promotion it's eligible for. If you have $40 worth of eligible goods, the $10 should automatically come off at checkout - no coupon code necessary.

If you have any upcoming weddings, you might be able to find something on their registry that qualifies. I did!

DIY 'Thinking of You' / 'Feel Better' flowers

Nothing much to report today. Spent part of the evening practicing updos for an August wedding that I'm a bridesmaid in.

Really easy to do (I swear!) - Curl hair, gather just the bottom part of hair into a low ponytail, twist and bobby pin the ponytail pieces, then take the top part of your hair (recurl if necessary) and start messily pinning pieces here and there. Works best on day old hair. Use a texturizer if you have fine hair.

Here's an old post on doing my own hair for my wedding. (FYI I am not a stylist and have had no formal training. I just wing it and pretend I know what I'm doing!)

So just a filler post today. You know how I love using what I have on hand. The following two bouquets were made with backyard flowers and dropped off at friends' homes.

75% off select trees at Home Depot

They may be getting picked over, but Home Depot had a group of trees marked down to 75% off. We were at the south Lincoln store Friday and bought three. I swung by the north Lincoln location yesterday to pick up something else (I swear we live at these stores) and noticed they had a few left too. Some weren't in the best shape, but there seemed to be a few good ones left. But I really don't know that much about trees...

Insulating basement walls

Worked in the basement a lot this past weekend. Probably should have taken more pictures, but below is a before and after of a wall I added insulation to - all by myself thank you very much! (Don't be too impressed, it's actually quite easy.)

Basement update

It's getting to be that time of year where the heat makes it no fun to be outside. We've moved from working outdoors back to the basement where it's nice and cool. The below video shows our progress. I shot it really quick this morning before running out the door to get to work so it's not the best, but it'll have to do!

I did make one mistake in it - when talking about the foam insulation I said that we used it on the outside basement walls for insulation purposes and to help with moisture. I guess it does not help with moisture at all (silly me).

I'll post tutorials on framing, insulating, hanging drywall, etc. eventually.

Pretty flowers and cutest store ever

Mom and I went to Kearney Cruise Nite this past weekend to watch my brother compete in an engine building competition. The brick streets were lined with what seemed like hundreds of fixed up old cars. I was the odd duck admiring the flowers while everyone else flocked to the cars.

Decorating milk cans

My Milk Can Makeover post was pretty popular so I thought I'd share another milk can idea.

I wish I had a before picture because the following milk can was a beat up antique rose color. Sounds kind of pretty, but trust me it was not. My mom spray painted it with Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze and then added decorations.

Amazing Grass Green Superfood

I try to be healthy... although like everyone else I fall off the wagon... often. I feel best when I start my mornings off with a green smoothie (and yoga if I have time). I used to just put fruit, spinach, and flax oil mixed with water in my smoothies, but I started adding a scoop of Amazing Grass Green Superfood and I think it makes a huge difference! I'm not into the excess protein/Complete Nutrition craze at all. I like this product because it provides a big dose of greens and healthy foods that are hard to consume on a daily basis.

Antique buffet revamp

Holy toledo! I'm finally posting an actual project! Is it weird that I'm looking forward to those boring winter weekends because we've been waaaay too busy this summer?! I better not get too anxious because we still have an entire season of tailgating to get through, not to mention all the holidays! Although fall is truly my favorite time of year... harvest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, beautiful decor, crisp weather, boots and scarves, colorful trees, tailgating, pumpkin spiced lattes... sigh.

Okay, onto today's project! Remember how I said we helped move stuff out of a neat old home in this post? Well, the following antique buffet was one of the many items we were able to take for FREE!

Lemon Days at Gateway Mall also starts this weekend (today actually). It runs July 10-13. I haven't been impressed with Lemon Days the past couple of times I've gone, but hopefully this time around will be better.

Footloose & Fancy started their big summer sale today as well. It runs July 10-13. High quality shoes will be discounted up to 70% off. This sale is good at the 70th & Pioneers location only. The downtown location will be having a clothing sale August 4-10.

4th of July recap

So I meant to post this yesterday and for the life of me I couldn't find my iPhone charger to download the pictures. After a long weekend of eating and drinking too much and staying out late I felt like a zombie yesterday! Did anyone else feel the same?

I finally got motivated to decorate a little bit more for the 4th... on the 4th. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Almost free vodka

My friend Bridget text me yesterday to let me know about a good vodka deal that she found at the N 27th HyVee in Lincoln, NE. They have High Rise Vodka for $15.99 with a $15 mail in rebate which makes it only $0.99!

If you can't find the rebate form at your store, ask the workers in the alcohol department or customer service. If that doesn't work, you can go to High Rise Vodka's website to submit your email and they will send you a form. I haven't tried High Rise, but I'm sure it's decent. Buy some mixers for it or use it in jello shots!
