Target $10 off $40 online purchase with store pickup

Through August 2, you can get $10 off your $40 online purchase when you select 'store pickup' at checkout. It's only valid on certain items. It will say under the item which promotion it's eligible for. If you have $40 worth of eligible goods, the $10 should automatically come off at checkout - no coupon code necessary.

If you have any upcoming weddings, you might be able to find something on their registry that qualifies. I did!

DIY 'Thinking of You' / 'Feel Better' flowers

Nothing much to report today. Spent part of the evening practicing updos for an August wedding that I'm a bridesmaid in.

Really easy to do (I swear!) - Curl hair, gather just the bottom part of hair into a low ponytail, twist and bobby pin the ponytail pieces, then take the top part of your hair (recurl if necessary) and start messily pinning pieces here and there. Works best on day old hair. Use a texturizer if you have fine hair.

Here's an old post on doing my own hair for my wedding. (FYI I am not a stylist and have had no formal training. I just wing it and pretend I know what I'm doing!)

So just a filler post today. You know how I love using what I have on hand. The following two bouquets were made with backyard flowers and dropped off at friends' homes.

75% off select trees at Home Depot

They may be getting picked over, but Home Depot had a group of trees marked down to 75% off. We were at the south Lincoln store Friday and bought three. I swung by the north Lincoln location yesterday to pick up something else (I swear we live at these stores) and noticed they had a few left too. Some weren't in the best shape, but there seemed to be a few good ones left. But I really don't know that much about trees...

Insulating basement walls

Worked in the basement a lot this past weekend. Probably should have taken more pictures, but below is a before and after of a wall I added insulation to - all by myself thank you very much! (Don't be too impressed, it's actually quite easy.)

Basement update

It's getting to be that time of year where the heat makes it no fun to be outside. We've moved from working outdoors back to the basement where it's nice and cool. The below video shows our progress. I shot it really quick this morning before running out the door to get to work so it's not the best, but it'll have to do!

I did make one mistake in it - when talking about the foam insulation I said that we used it on the outside basement walls for insulation purposes and to help with moisture. I guess it does not help with moisture at all (silly me).

I'll post tutorials on framing, insulating, hanging drywall, etc. eventually.
